My son Larry and his beautiful family!
I received this picture today for Mother's Day!
Who is that lady?
That carried me for nine months nourishing me and giving me the best gift ever,
That loved me with every late night feeding,
That kept me healthy when I was sick.
Who is that lady?
That cried when I started kindergarten, and dropped me off at school but wouldn’t leave till I was safe in class,
That taught me my ABC’S & 123’S, my colors and myshapes,
That taught me to read even when I didn’t want to,
That led by example and shared her love of books and reading.
Who is that lady?
That decided she was going to help me make my school projects like my sequence turkey or my orange paper pumpkin,
That took on the challenge as a Cub Scout Den mother so her sons
would be able to be in the scouts,
That took her sons Cub Scout watch away so he could pass his multiplication 5 minute time test.
Who is that lady?
That through all of her NO’S kept me safe and sound,
That could always fix any problem with a hug or a kiss.
That made sure I did my homework and my chores,
That taught me the value of family and love.
Who is that lady?
That letme be her little man when dad was gone making a living for us,
That let me learn how to take care of my brother’s (and sister later on),
That depended on me for the little things so she could deal with the larger things,
That made sure that I was in bed for 8:00, but had a full stomach first,
That bandaged me up when I was hurt,
That grounded me out of love when I was misbehaving or disrespectful.
Who is that lady?
That listened when I came home all dreamy eyed about a school boy crush,
That consoled me when I realized that crushes don’t always turn out the way you want to,
That got me ready for high school,
That bandaged me up from my bike accidents,
That said ok you can shave (wish I would have waited).
Who is that lady?
That listened again to me when my high school crush came into my life,
That treated all my friends like family whether we were watching T.V., listening to music, playing pool, or treating us to some of Dad’s gumbo,
That knew her little man was growing up into a young man and asked him the questions—Are you ok? Are you taking drugs? How do you study with the radio on? How do you sleep with the radio on?
That bandaged me up from my bike accidents.
Who is that lady?
That let me get my first job,
That let me take drivers Ed,
That trusted my friends enough and my judgment to let me go out with my friends,
That bandaged me up from my bike accidents,
That realized I was mature enough to make my own decisions and that I could handle the outcome of those decisions,
Who is that lady?
That was my best friend,
That told me to slow down when you drive,
That screamed turn down the radio,
That said stop teasing your brothers,
That announced your going to have a baby sister.
Who is that lady?
That accepted Linda as my girlfriend, as the mother of my children, and eventually as my wife- but most of all as her own daughter.
That loves all my kids,
That was Proud when I became an assistant manager,
That was Wowed when I became a manager,
That was so Happy when I came home to Opelousas.
Who is that lady?
That said it’s your first house it will be ok, Linda and I would make it a home,
That said yes it’s an apartment it will be ok, Linda and I would make it a home,
That said I’m proud of your purchase, I know it’s a trailer, Linda and I would make it a home,
That said I knew you would buy your first house, but never forget it will take you and Linda’s love to make it a home.
Who is the lady I had hard times with, good times with, & great times with?
Who is the lady that put up with my antics, whether I was joking, or being a smartass?
Who is the lady that said “No Matter What, I Will Always Love and Support You”?
This lady is my mom, she is Larry, Darrell, Ronnie, Donnie and Ashley’s mother, she is the wife of Larry Sr, and she is Judy Bernard. But she will always be my mom.
Happy Mother’s Day
Love Boo.
