OUR WEEKEND VISITORS

This weekend we had Ashley and Jason over. As usual Mommy and Daddy went about thier business and the boys stayed with us. We had a great time with them to! Here is a picture of the two of them .They were playing horsey ,but I think Donivans weight was a little much for Garrett.Those two little brothers can be a handful at times,but they are such happy children,it still amazes me how good they get along.Garrett is now 4 years old and Donivan is 19 and 1/2 months.

Well we enjoyed having them and will have them again for Easter.I hope to have more pictures to post then.

This is my latest doily,it was the begining pattern for a Mystery Shawl,but I am not a ruffles kind of girl.lol So I ended it and turned it into a doily for my daughter and she loves it.It will be under a flower vase.

I completed this shawl today.It is made from Lambs Pride Yarn, it took 8 skiens or 1000 yards.I used a size I hook .I t really worked up quick.This is another gift.

If I keep working on UFO's I will clear out a lot of space.lol

I went through some of my UFO's today and took out a blanket I started

2 years ago,I forgot completely about this one, it is made completely out of hdc stitches, and really is fast for me,so hopefully I will get this finished soon.

You would not believe all the unfinished projects I found today.lol I have doilies,blankets,dishcloths,afghans,lapghans,and lots of squares to.All are UFO's lol.

Will update you guys later on as I complete more projects.

Oh by the way, we will have Donivan here for the weekend.YIPEEEEE!

Hearts Doily

This my completed Hearts Doily after blocking.I started this doily in December of 2007 and it has been in hibernation since,so I took it out last weekend and started working on it again.I completed it on January 13,2009.

I also have others that are still in hibernation and one of my goals this year is to try to finish all my unfinished projects before starting anything new.Yeah right wishful thinking.lol

Sorry I have been away so long.December was a rough month on us here.As most of you know I had bladder surgery and we also had Donivan here for awhile,because Ashley's Father-in Law passed away.Then there was Christmas.Then New Years which both were happy and fun for us.
I have been crocheting quite a bit.I completed a shawl.a coffee table doily and finally completed a scrap blanket for a grandson and completed a blanket for Donivan I had started before he was born.He is now 17 months old.Can't believe it took so long,but this was Tunisian Crochet and I get bored easily.lol
I will update and post pictures later.

MYSTERY SCARF #2

This scarf was really quick and fun to do.I got the pattern from a group I am in on Ravelry,WEEKLY KAL/CAL GROUP.I used the softest yarn I had a soft Decotta and a mohair look and they worked up beautifully and my scarf feels so soft on my neck,I just love it.

I am hoping to do another mystery project soon.I really enjoy seeing the project come together and at first having no clue as to what you making.

My Voodoo Doll

This is my voodoo doll I received from Dani,from the voodoo doll swap.Isn't he cute,he has a gold heart, to keep my heart healthy,a shell on the tummy, to never have to have bladder problems again, and a tag on him that says Faith,guess we all know what that means.His white face glows in the dark,how cool is that!
I have named him Shifty.S-for the shell,H-for the heart,I-for instantly loving him,F-for faith,T-for the tinkle of his bells and Y-for the yarn he is made with.My little Shifty now stands on the mantle for all to see.
Thanks Dani for a great voodoo doll,you did a great job.I love him!

FAVORITE THINGS SWAP

In this swap we were to send our partner some of our favorite things.I had alot fun finding things I liked to send.Here is what I received from Nicole,a lot of the things she sent are also some of my favorite things,so I think we really were paired off nicely.I think the most fun thing will be learning to spin,she sent me a spindle and some alpaca,so I could spin it myself,now how cool is that.She also sent the softest yarn not sure what I will make with it yet. The teas are almost all gone already,so yummy! I will have to use the soft touch hook soon,it seems to be so comfortable to use.I love the feel of it.Thank You Nicole for everything,I love it all.

Lavender Delight

I have completed another pair of socks.These are called, Lavender Delight from the pattern book, Stocking Feet from Annie's Attic.

I really like the way the color came out, on these.I think I need to work on other UFO's, before I make more socks.lol

I have a doily to complete for a gift, and a shawl to complete for a swap.So for now, socks will have to wait.I think I have enough, in case the weather turns frigid.Yeah like that'll happen here, in South Louisiana.lol

I have crocheted my third pair of socks.From the Ultimate crochet pattern,and I love the way they come out, and the way they fit.I may just have to make a few more pairs, for the winter months.It sure will beat, the boring white socks, I am used to wearing. Check out this awesome package I received,from Melissa B.,the box was crammed packed.lol The white pumpkins are going to be painted,hopefully this weekend.If you can't see it spells out HARVEST.The peach pie in the center, is a candle and smells awesome. I love the smell of the soap and the red candles.See the white taper candle, it is in a very pretty leaf design candle holder,she also sent ,I have stickers,cards,skull head lollipop candies,a caldron and skeleton and flies,I can't wait to decorate,so I am going to do that, as soon as I get off of here.I love the turkey,and the cake pan and all the little gourds and the trick or treat sign.I also got a cool pair of BOO socks and a chocolate candy bar.I am going to have lots of fun this year.

SILLY STRINGS VOODOO DOLL SWAP

In a Ravelry group I am in called Silly Strings,I was in a swap,that we had to make a voodoo doll.OK I have never been in a swap like this, nor have I ever made a voodoo doll.So off I went to the internet, to see what I could come up with.lol Our partner had to give us information, about what they wanted to change, in their lives.My partner Dani,had few problems she wanted to see if we could get rid of,she suffers from insomnia, neck and lower back pain.She also told me her favorite color is green.Well I went with these, and tried to come up with something, to help her.Our dolls had to be at least 50% crocheted.We were allowed to insert things inside the doll,and embellish them as we wanted,well I went to work and this is what I came up with.

This is a 2 sided voodoo doll ,on one side is the red eyed insomniac and in pain person.On the other is the rested ,free of pain, happy side.

Inside of the doll, is a packet of lavender,squeeze the belly, and she has the relaxing aroma of lavender.Hopefully, this will help to get to sleep.On the neck is a black tipped pin, and also on the lower back,to help relieve the pain,the black pins represent freedom from pain.Her favorite color is what I dressed her in ,because the color green represents well being.

I even had a little more fun and named her voodoo doll---Bippins--Sorry, only her and I know what her names means.I hope this works for her. I sure had fun, with this project, and learned alot, along the way.

I know the round one, is supposed to be a dishcloth, but I think I will use it as a doily, under my spoon rest, it will be just perfect.I love the braided cloth! I have got to get that pattern.Thank you so much Lindsay I love it all.

Today; I have started on a scraf, for the Special Olympics Scarf Project .It is a project through Ravelry, to make scarves for the special olympics.They are trying to get 5000 scarves, for the participants in the special olympics, and I am more than happy to help.Because; I feel these are really special people, who really need our love, and support.So if anyone out there is interested, just go to the Ravelry web site, and go to; Special Olympics Scarf Project's page, and get on board, and crochet or knit a scarf or two, for the special people in these olympics.The scarves are being made in Red Heart Super Saver-White and Delft Blue.

TODDLER BED BLANKET

I started on a blanket, in tunisian crochet for Donivan, and forgot I had it.lol Well I am continuing to work on it,I will turn it into a toddler blanket.It is blue,green,white,and yellow.Tunisian crochet, just takes longer than regular crochet, and I get bored easily,so I have other projects going at the same time.So if I get tired of working on the blanket, I can work on something else.I am working on a pair of socks,a doily,actually I have 3 doilies, I am working on,lol. I am also working on dishcloths, and washcloths and a tote bag.

So I have a lot to do.I am also working on an Autumn Swap and also a Christmas Swap.

Well that's about it for now,hope everyone keeps themselves safe from Hurricane Ike.

Monster Socks

OK I know they are ugly.lol And yes; those are my ugly legs.lol The socks are supposed to be ugly. I made these in a group I am in ,in Ravelry,Called (Monstersocks)you are supposed to use scrap yarn,meaning left over yarn, from other projects.This is exactly what I did,I used the pattern (The Ultimate Socks), and leftover sock yarn, and a size F crochet hook.

These were fun to make, and guess what they fit, and are actually comfortable, and will be warm, on those cold winter nights.

Crochet Gatherings Bath Swap

I am in the room a month swaps on the crochet group-Crochet Gatherings,this month was the bathroom. I completed this bath mitt today.I like it, but I think I will use a smaller hook, on the next one,I just crochet to loosely, for a size G hook, on this project.It just came out a little to long.But it is still useable. BEADSPREAD UPDATE #11

There is no picture to show today,because I really looked at the bedspread and did not like what I saw.I was on row 63,so I ripped it back, all the way to round 36,which if you have been keeping up with my updates is back to the white.I have decided to continue with the white for now.I was just having a very hard time adjusting to all the colors I was adding.I found the sections of colors were not really wide enough and it was turning out to look really awful.I will continue working on it and post pictures and updates later.

DONIVAN

Donivan was over for the weekend, and we had a blast spoiling him.We even got an invitation to his birthday party,his Nanny will host it, at her home, and they will have lots of fun things to do, for our little guy and his family and friends.And of course, cake and lots of eats.

But here he is as always talking to Grandma.lol Grandma lets me run around in just my diaper! I love being at Grandma's house.

Our grandson Donivan was with us, for a few days and as usual, we spoiled him rotten.He is already 9 1/2 months old.He has a rash on his face, from his pacifier,I wish Ashley would take it away from him.When he is here, he usually only wants it to sleep,but she lets him have it all the time.OH well, she's the mom.He now has 4 teeth, and is learning how to eat things, that is not baby food or pureed.We had fun with him, he has started saying a few words, and does his baby talk all the time! Will update you guys more, when I have more to say.lol

A Hooker Poem

My wife is a hooker,
Of this she's mighty proud,
And the stories of her exploits,
Are legends in our town.
She's shameless with her talents,
She'll go hooking anywhere,
And if people want to watch her,
She really doesn't care.
It seems to be a family thing,
Her mother taught her how.
Seems her grandma was a hooker,
and my daughter's hooking now.
She goes to Hookers' meetings,
to learn the new techniques.
She starts hooking in a frenzy,
and won't talk to me for weeks.
She doesn't do the housework,
She doesn't make the beds,
No she doesn't have time for that,
She'd rather hook instead.
My wife, she is a hooker,
and I curse that awful day,
when she first picked up the hook and yarn,
and learned how to Crochet!!

NEW PROJECT I AM WORKING ON!

I have decided to try something I have never done before.I am making a beadspread.It is made with size 10, crochet cotton thread, and a size 7, crochet hook.I know it will take a long time to make,but I am enjoying doing this pattern,it is totally made with chains and double crochet.I will be posting my progress here.

I started it on April 20th, this was taken on April 21st.

With everything going on around here I have not been able to be on the computer, much less being able to update my blog.Sorry!

After my father-in-law passed away, we had so much to do, to get the succession started and now we are trying to get his house cleaned out.One of my brother-in-laws wants to move in it.

Our baby is growing!

He is crawling and walking around furniture and he eats anything you put in his mouth.lol He has 2 teeth and has just started to say Dad Dad! He weights 19lb14ozs.I still get to see him every other weekend.We just found out he is allergic to cats, and we have two, that he loves to play with,but sad to say, we will have to find new homes for them.Our baby is more important than our cats,but we will miss them dearly.

I am working on a new large project.More about that later.

It is with sadness that I write today.

My Father-in-law passed away on Monday night (02/25/08).

We will miss him dearly,our home seems so empty,he was living with us since October.

He was the best Father-in-law a woman could have.

He was 82 years old.

I can hardley believe he is six months old already!

Donivan and his Mom and Dad spent the weekend with us.I thought you may want to see how big he is getting.He is starting to crawl and he is cutting teeth.We really enjoyed having him and it was hard to say bye until they come back.We do get to see them every other weekend,but we miss them so much.So I had to give lots of hugs and kisses.

WHY I HAVE BEEN AWAY

In October my father-in-law moved in with us,he has been very ill and takes a lot out of my husband and myself sometimes.It is almost like taking care of a baby,which I also do so my daughter can work,I have been taking care of Donivan since he was six weeks old.

In November my hubby got sick and that's not easy because I do not drive and I tried taking care of him,the baby and my father-in-law and the house and cooking.But God saw us through it .

Well it started in December,I had to have surgery and then I was just getting over that when I caught the flu as did hubby.

My father-in-law has alzhimers.In January he had pnumonia and was hospitalized and is still there.

I lost an Aunt and the next evening my Uncle(who were married) the last week of January and a sister-in-law a year to the day that I lost my sister Cindy.The 31st of January my sons trailer burnt and he lost everything.Thank God no one was hurt,they were not home when it started.

My father -in-law had to have surgery for an abcess in his lung and stayed 2 weeks in ICU and now they have him in the rehab unit so they can teach him how to eat again,he has had the feeding tube in his nose since his surgery.

The beginning of February I had my grandson Donivan for a week because he had the flu and it was to cold to take him in and out for his mom had to be to work at 7 am.

Then the second week of February I had him for 9 days and nights,because they moved back to New Orleans and needed to clean and paint inside the house,well they came pick him up last weekend and now I am one lonesome grandma.I will only get to see him every other weekend.But they are happy there so I guess I better get used to it.lol

As everyone knows this is tax season and Bookkeeping and Taxes is what I do,so that has been keeping me very busy also.

I would like to tell anyone I owe exchanges to that I have not been hiding from you,I do have them packaged and ready to mail and will get them mailed as soon as I can and that IS A PROMISE.I am so sorry for all the delays,but if you have been reading this,I think you will understand why.

I received my final package from Mindy C. for our Sweet Goodness Sister Swap.Looky what she sent!

Mindy sent me this lovely tote bag and look at the front pocket can you see my lady bug,she is cute!

The tote bag is just the right size and is already in use,I am crocheting hats and scaves for 3 of my granddaughters and it all fits in the tote and I love the pockets,I also received this wooden letter J and have it hanging by by desk and it is my favorite color blue,she sent me 2 kinds of coffee ( cinnamon vanilla nut and raspberry and cream, which I have already tried and they are yummy,I received a homemade mixture for brownies,which I will make for New Years Day and she sent me a can of Mindy's BAM seasoning which hubby says he wants to try on our chicken (baked) ,she also sent me the cutest little metal chinese windchime which is hanging with my others in my collection,I also have the cutest little measuring spoons with snowmen on the handles,which I will definately use,a recipe book called The Country Friends Collection- Main Dishes,which I have already found some recipes I want to try,Mindy also sent me a Happy Holidays card. Look what else the mailman brought today!

Well today we break our tradition.This will be the first time in over 30 years,we are not having Thanksgiving dinner at our home.We are invited to have Thanksgiving dinner with our oldest son and his family.We currently have my father-in-law staying with us,due to health reasons,so we will be bringing him to.That means we will have 4 generations there today.My father-in-law is not the oldest in his family,he is 82 yrs old,but my husband is his oldest son,he is 59 yrs old,then our son is our oldest,he is 36 yrs old, and his oldest is a daughter who is 15 yrs old. I will try to get a picture of the 4 of them today and post it this evening.I think it will be a wonderful day for everyone.I hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful,love filled and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Can you believe all of this was stuffed into a shoe box! Jayne D. sent me 2 books by my favorite author Laura Ingalls Wilder and it is 2 I have not read yet.Yipee! She also sent me a mini book called Quilting Quotations Celebrating An American Legacy which I will treasure I love quilting and this little book is awesome. I also got 2 boxes of Russell Stover assorted chocolates,a 2008 calendar,a silver credit card holder,a folding umbrella in a case,a cootie bug candle holder with a candle,a bobble teddy bear holding a cathead basket,a friendship coffee mug with a pack of instant cappuccino mix,so guess what I will be doing later(yep reading and sipping from new mug) she sent 5 of the prettiest friendship stitch markers on a key ring with a hook,I have already attached them to the strap on my tote bag with my knitting(can't say what I am knitting because the receiver of that gift may read this)lol also a very sweet note in a cute card.

I will have fun with these books, in my swaps. I love putting recipes in jars,not only is it easy but it is so much fun receiving these to.The recipe for the pumpkin struesel I will try it out tomorrow.

Diana M. sent me a great envelope, full of things I can use ,she sent me a novel, which I have already started, and the copy write on this book is 1885, I was so surprised, and feel so special for having received it, I can not say thank you enough,she also sent me some cards, for Halloween and some stickers,a cute little windchime, with a frog on it,and best of all a recipe, I am going to try tomorrow, it is for Peanut butter fudge ,and she knows I love anything with peanut butter and chocolate ,and her idea is for me to drizzle chocolate on top,and I will to! lol She also sent me a note about the book.Thank you Diana I love it all,You did great!

My pal sent me this awesome package,my pot holder is a candy corn ,and check out the dish towel and the holder,which it can be turned around and used for Thanksgiving! she also sent me 3 mini sachets that smell so nice and are my favorite thing purses,lol,a bag of candy which is now half gone,hubby and I are enjoying those,lol a nice note and a homemade card with an envelope,and a bath set of lotion ,body mist and bath salts in White Tea and Ginger scented.Thanks Pal for everything.

Look what I received today!!!

Misha sent me this great package,look at my teacup,isn't it just beautiful,she also sent me some tea not sure what the difference is but one is apple cinnamon and the other is cinnamon apple.lol 4 tealight candles,apple cinnamon scented and nice homemade card with the envelope for me to use and and also a cute homemade note card.A set of earrings that kind of look like cherries.Thank you so much Misha this was a great package.

I received this colorful swap today from Beth S. for our Fall Colors Swap.

Beth sent me this very nicely made bag/purse,which I intend to use for my crochet when I am making doilies,it is just the right size.She also sent me some yummy hazelnut cream coffee,which I can't wait to try and the recipe for Bucheye candy,which I am defenitly going to make(peanutbutter and chocolate)lol,which is on a postcard with a written note from her on the other side,a purple Halloween fingertip towel,a 2 year planner,I love planners because I keep one by the phone,one on my desk and one in my purse,so I never have to many,and check out my little scarecrow isn't it cute sitting there on a pumpkin,I love it,I have it by my computer,were it will stay till after Thanksgiving,she also sent me a bottle of Midnight Pomegranate body spray and body lotion,which smells awesome.Thank you so much Beth I love it all,I have really enjoyed this swap and hope to exchange with you again in the future.

I received my package today from Briana for our Color Swap Orange.

She sent me an awesome package,3 skiens of Wool Ease- Thick and Quick,in the color Pumpkin,which I intend on making me some comfy socks for winter.She also sent a pack of Martha Stewart Stationary,A 2 year planner with the cutiest little puppies on and in it,2 very pretty magnetic picture frames,A magnetic weekly planner,1 skien of Sugar and Cream cotton in Hot Orange ,I am going to make me a dish towel to use for Thanksgiving,The cutest kitties on iron on tranfers from Aunt Marthas,A pumpkin cookie cutter,an orange sharpie marker,a Michaels tape measure,a pack of orange flavored tic tacs,and the best smelling spiced pumpkin candles.

October's coming to an end, and Halloween is growing closer! I realize not all of you celebrate Halloween, stick with me, there'll be 2 questions and everyone can choose which to answer!

What was your favorite Halloween costume ever - for you?Don't remember.lol for your kids, if you have them?I had 4 boys who loved to dress as pirates. Why did you enjoy it so much?Because they dressed up in old clothes and used my make up,never store bought costumes,just watching them was so much fun. Do you still dress up now? It's a crisp, cool, sunny Sunday in October - the sky is clear, there's a bit of a breeze, and the leaves have already started to change. My special day would be to sit outside with a really good book and enjoy the cool breeze,drinking a cup of coffee and looking at the trees,with all the differnt colors of leaves on them.We don't have any trees in our yard but are surrounded by trees from the neighbors yards and a small patch of wooded area across the street.I love sitting outdoors and just listening to the birds,it is awesome,when you really listen you hear so many diffent sounding bird calls,I love it.

Look what came in the mail today!!!!!

I received this package from Mary Ann M. She really outdid herself with this package.For something old, she sent me the hankie trimmed in pink ,A recipe book(World of Pies),crochet book and a learn (crochet,knitting ,embroidery and tatting )book,also for the new, a wrist bag to embelish which already has the design stamped on it,a skein of confetti yarn and skien of red heart yarn,a crochet cupcake pin cushion,a coffee/tea mug,and blackcurrant tea and coffee I can hardley wait to try these ,cherries jubilee,and autumn spice coffee sounds so yummie, a bust of a cherub angel-look closely it is in the plastic bag with the hankie,check out the candies-chocolate,peanutbutter,chocolate mint and peanutbutter and mint.lol I am going to have a buzz for sure,sugar buzz that is.lol She also wrote me a note on one of her cards.So sweet THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH MARY!Can you tell she really knew exactly what I liked,I know she had to read my blog.lol
